Green Cucumbers
The Geraldton Green Cucumber season has one week left to go, then we can expect South Australian fruit for a short period to fill the gap until the local produce kicks in from our Wanneroo farms. These extremely hot days ahead and forecast for the following week will see prices on the rise. Hot temperatures locally and in South Australia will cause the cucumbers to pale up over night and can also cause wrinkling and soft ends. This will result in less yield of good fruit, which will create shortages.
Stringless Beans
Stringless Bean prices are also already on the rise with prices more than doubling in the last few days. This is also due to heat. We will see the heat having an impact immediately on various vegetables and may see repercussions weeks from now from flowers being burnt or dropping off.
